Superior Alpaca Herdsires for Superior Alpaca Fleece

We have three Alpaca breeding programs:
White Huacaya Alpacas
Colored Huacaya Alpacas
Suri Alpacas

Each of our alpaca breeding programs is built on continual improvement of genetics for greater fleece volume, fineness, and character. We realized the importance of superior Herdsires in creating a program that will breed for the ever-improving market, and we went all-out when putting together a stable of very unique males with proven genetics. These males' genetics are not only available for you to breed to, they are being built into each female we sell from our ranch.

WHITE HUACAYA ALPACA PROGRAM

The cornerstone Herdsires of our White Huacaya program are:
McGwire
Alexander the Great
Accoyo Phantom
Accoyo Custer
Godfather's Accoyo Marlon Brando
RAINMAN

We were fortunate to focus on fineness in the early years and have some unusually soft females. It has been hard to find males that could add density and still improve on these girls' excellent histograms. We feel we have done that now.

The show ring is only beginning to acknowledge staple length as part of the ribbon-award-system, and we think in the years ahead this will be given more consideration, since it is obviously a big part of commercial fleece production. The longevity of this industry will be based on the strength of our genetics, which is measured by the consistency of offspring to produce fleece volume in luscious softness. Our goal is to gradually retain females from these high quality Herdsires and to build a herd that consistently produces ever-increasing pounds of fleece with microns and CV's both below 20. We feel that with these extraordinary Herdsires, we are within a few generations of this goal.

This is our most exciting program, and we are encouraging co-ownership of our White Huacaya Herdsires and invite others to join us on this exciting journey.

COLORED HUACAYA ALPACA PROGRAM

For our Colored Huacaya program the foundation Herdsires are:
 McGwire
Accoyo Alexander the Great
Velvet's Prince William
Aussie Hills Imbroglio
RAINMAN
In this program, we take good quality black, silver and dark colored females and begin by breeding them to our ultra-dense Herdsires. We primarily focus on Alexander the Great because of the fineness and density he applies, McGwire (because he powers on the density with color), Imbroglio (new to our farm but has both extraordinary density and fineness, and Rainman, a fawn hemiAccoyo) Then we breed those daughters back to our dark males whose genetics are strong for color, but who have improved fleece (Prince William out of Greta and a Camilio Accoyo male, or Incantation, our full Peruvian Sollocata deep black male from Black Magic back east. We have several excellent unrelated lines here to work with. In this fashion, we will continue to add density and fleece character but also weave the color back in as well.

SURI ALPACA PROGRAM

For our Suri Alpaca breeding program our Herdsires are:
Peruvian Sir Lancelot
  Accoyo Voltaire
 Accoyo Diego
We are building our Suri alpaca program on a foundation of beautiful, brilliant white females bred to our herdsires. We are getting beautiful, typey Suris in living color that sell before they are weaned. We believe that sooner or later density will be valued in Suris along with luster, fineness and lock formation. We have set our breeding program accordingly. Both of our Suri Herdsires have been selected primarily for their luster, microns, and density. We feel, once again, that breeding for the highest quality fleece should not be limited to Huacayas. Staple length, too, has to be a part of breeding Suris for more volume. This program is young, but growing!
